This virtual training and knowledge exchange workshop is part of a DFO funded project led by the Miawpukek First Nation, WWF-Canada and CPAWS-NL, which aims to map, sample and monitor eelgrass and kelp habitats within Miawpukek traditional territory in the Bay d'Espoir region of Newfoundland. In this workshop, Markus Thompson (Thalassia Environmental) will provide an overview of nearshore habitat mapping using drones (with a focus on eelgrass mapping) and Carolyn Prentice (Hakai Institute) will describe blue carbon methodologies in eelgrass systems.
